The Lady in Lace

Initially, I bought the black lacy top below because I intended to throw on a nude colored cami I had purchased at Nordstrom and layer this top over it, and then add a fitted, tailored, sleek black blazer from White House Black Market over that, and wear it with black tailored Theory pants to work.

Since I am on medical leave, and since I work in a small town where I get little to no appreciation for my sense of style, I figured I'd pair it with a lovely black bra I bought at Victoria's Secret recently, a pair of jeans or a black leather mini, and wear it to go have a drink (or two, or three) with my friends, or on a date. (Yes, I said 'date.' And no, hell is not freezing over.)

Kristin Cavallari, I understand we both have a penchant for starting fights with annoying, needy and pathetic, and somewhat dim-witted girls (like Audrina Patridge, for instance) "stealing" other people's boyfriends, and Stephen Colletti (well, you seem to have left him in the dust, but my love for Stephen is still goin' strong) but did you have to go and wear a similar top, too? I mean, you have all day to spend in the gym. Me? Not so much.

Even still, I will rock this lacy top & still hope for the day when I, like Kristin, can steal Brody Jenner away from a Playboy playmate (Jayde Nicole) who looks like a cross-eyed freak of nature. Talk about a butter face. (As in, 'Everything's good, but-her-FACE!)

Again, a girl can dream.

To buy your own version of this top, visit www.bebe.com or Bebe stores nationwide, or you can pick up a similar and still very cute version at Express stores, or online at www.expressfashion.com.

The Bitch You Love to Hate

Oh, yes, it is that time of year again...time for all new episodes of your favorite TV shows, even the reality TV shows we all loathe but secretly, or not so secretly, adore.

One of my favorite shows happens to be The Hills, and even though I'll admit it is still difficult for me to see the show without seeing Lauren every week driving in her BMW with the top down, the song "Unwritten" playing in the background, I still tune in like a loyal Hills devotee, or at least I have been over the past two weeks.

Tell me who your favorite Hills star is and I'll tell you who you are. That is basically the size of it.

Although I related to Lauren (LC) Conrad in a few ways (except for the fact that she was a millionaire, and all) I must admit that I just love Kristin Cavallari. I know I may stand alone on this one, and call me crazy, but I love her bitchy attitude, her in-your-face responses to drama, and her ability to make Lo shake in her Louboutin heels. I love the fact that in episode one she yelled, "I am the wrong bitch to mess with," because that might as well be tattooed around my wrist, or on my forearm. I like that she tells it like it is, and doesn't care if all the other girls are her best friend--she'd rather keep it real than have a bunch of fake friends trailing behind her. She's not going to be crying on every episode, because she's stronger than that. Like her or hate her, she's gonna be the bitch you love to hate.

And one thing that I can say for Ms. Cavallari, that few would disagree with?

The girl's style has improved significantly on the style-meter. She's someone who will be on the fashion radar, at least for a few more seasons.

Now if only she could improve Justin Bobby's look.
Kristin, you've got your work cut out for you, doll.

Stopping Traffic

This dress from Harmony Lane boutique in Los Angeles actually caught the eye of my own mother before I even noticed it, and she immediately called it a "Lorraine" dress. Meaning, of course, that this is precisely the type of dress that I would not only wear, but run out and purchase probably before I'd put gas in a car that was running on E.

These days, what with my packed closet, a recession that is haunting all of our consciences, and gas prices that are still disconcerting, I would say that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I definitely know that red is my color, it looks great with my tanned skin, and it's a dress I'd love to wear...especially the next time I know I'll be running into a man who's caught my eye...because in this dress? You'll not only catch eyes, you'll stop traffic.

www.shopharmonylane.com to purchase your own dress, this was is Fighting Eel Iris Tube Dress, worn by stars like Kristin Cavallari and Eva Longoria Parker.
